Lenny Conundrum - Round #451

If Jelly - Linae = JY, what is the following 7 letter word?

1 = (Peach - Peadackle) + (Rainbow Negg - Orange Negg)

2 = (Tan Blush - Blue Short Hair Brush) + (Uggsul - Tehuti)

7 = (Maraqua - Altador) - (Roast Gargapple - Dapper Shoyru Shoes)

5 = (Lollypop - Lemon Neodrops) - (Bubbles Herbal Drink - Hoochie Coochie Tablets)

6 = (Mega Wild Chocomato Smoothie - Mega Blueberry Tomato Smoothie) - (Black Barbat - White Anubis)

3 = (Shield of Reflection - Shield of Faerieland) + (Farlax V - Airax)

4 = (Gelert Helm - Emerald Hissi Helm) - (Remnok - Korabric)

What is the answer?

Those numbers have to mean more than which letter they are trying to give you. If they wanted us to just put them in order, they wouldn't have put the numbers in the first place. They would have just listed the words. I am wondering exactly how those numbers correspond to the puzzle.

But if they really meant something more than they would have had to put a number next to 'Jelly - Linae = JY'... right?
i don't understand any of this one. i tried bedmas with removing the similar letters in each word but it doesn't work out right

1 = (H) + (IBW)
2 = (N) + (GGSL)
3 = (FCT) + (FLV)
4 = (GT) - (EMN)
5 = (Y) - (URDRNK)
6 = (WDCHCT) - (LCKR)
7 = (MQU) - (TGGL)

Current Theory that has hit a dead end.
Subtracting two words: Obtained by subtracting the letters in word one that appear in word two
Adding two words: Add the letters of word two onto word one.

Jesus never lies.
I got different results than Tome of Knowledge; he didn't cancel every same letter.
1= H+IBW
2= N+GGSL
3= CTO+FLV
4= GT-EMN
5= Y-URDRNK
6= WDCHC-LCKR
7= MQU-TGGL
Still means absolutely nothing, though... TNT's little aid didn't help at all.

Oh wait, it's still not right. Never mind, we're both still wrong...

H+IBW+N+GGSL+CTO+FLV+GT+Y+WDCHC+MQU-EMN-URDRNK-LCKR-TGGL?

If it's based off letters and there's negatives, maybe it's all part of one big equation
jelly-linae=JY still doesn't make sense to me

the answer is stinggo

How did you get that?
there's nothing named stinggo in neopia

Has anyoneelse noticed that the clue very clearly states Jelly - Linae = JY? Why is the Y a capital letter?
Anonumouse's avatar

Anonumouse · 669 weeks ago

Based off the clue I don't think that the Y is part of the answer just because there is a y in jelly, in which case everyone is doing this incorrectly.

If the Y were from the word jelly, it would NOT be capitalized

anonymous #1 · 669 weeks ago

They could have simply capitalized the letter just to signify that capitalization doesn't matter. Any letter could be the first.
Gargle****'s avatar

Gargle**** · 669 weeks ago

^Moron
capitalization does matter though. the question is in english, not nonsense.
or maybe it's to not give you hints about the first letter of the word
Anonumouse's avatar

Anonumouse · 669 weeks ago

They also would not randomly capitalize the letter if it wasn't of any importance
I got A for the fourth letter.

I'd really like to know, too
Trying a different route... is removing the "ell" from "Jelly" come from something else besides the letters that make up "Linae?" Like the capital letters remove the letter that make up that sound from the first word? So for "Peach - Peadackle", you'd remove "Pea" from to "Peach" to leave you with "ch?"

That idea comes to a screeching halt though.
1 reply · active 669 weeks ago
Or something with rhyming syllables removing instead of similar letters.
I tried using all the letters that were removed, (Peac,dcl), etc and ended up with ATLASES
which doesn't make any sense in Neopia

Don't ask me how. It was late at night and took many sheets of paper.
I may submit that as my answer, but I want to think on it more.
1 reply · active 669 weeks ago
Maybe it's and acronym for something Altador Cup-Related..
just an idea... (Peach - Peadackle) + (Rainbow Negg - Orange Negg). maybe you get the word peach and take away all the letters that are in peadackle (e.g. remove the p e a and c. leaving you with H) it works with Jelly - Linae = JY (jelly - L i n a e = JY because of the letters left) .. was just an idea. not quite sure how it makes a 7 letter word in the end
7 replies · active 669 weeks ago
That's what we've been doing.
after testing my theory i came up with (i ordered them from 1-7 instead of leaving them jumbled)
1 = h + ibw
2 = Tn + ggsl
3 = ct + Fl V
4 = t - emn
5 = lly - Bubb ra Drnk
6 = Wd Chct - lack arat
7 =Mrqu - t Ggl
... unfortunalty i cant make sence of it, theres clearly more then 7 letters here
we've been doing this....
sorry if im sppamming, but i tried turning the letters into numbers then back into letters again,
1 = h + ibw = 1+3=4
2 = Tn + ggsl = 2+4=6
3 = ct + Fl V = 2+3=5
4 = t - emn = 1-3=-1
5 = lly - Bubb ra Drnk = 3-10= -7
6 = Wd Chct - lack arat = 6-8= -2
7 =Mrqu - t Ggl = 4-4= 0

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
i ended up getting
DFEzty

(when it’s a minus number go backwards from A e.g. -1=Z)
unfortunalty theres only 6 letters in this word, maybe theres something in Neopets that has these letters and we just have to unscramble them? or maybe i did it wrong and 0=A instead of 1=A? in wich case it would be 'EGFZTYA' . (i might of done some maths wrong so feel free to correct me
You should compare notes against the several people that did this before you higher up in the comments; I'm pretty sure you can eliminate more letters.
why would i get rid of more letters if we only need 7 and i got 6, if anything i shuld be adding letters.
try using 0 as A, etc?
Could it possibly have to do with math?
I.e. Jelly - Linae = JY is some sort of result of replacing letters with their corresponding number in the alphabet.
I haven't tried any equations yet, though.

I tried something like that, but that's when the headache began.
tried that... didn't get far

why would a tnt representative post the answer...
Now that I think about it, most of the terms in the same parenthesis are related to each other... Could this be related to the problem?
3 replies · active 669 weeks ago
On another note, If Jelly - Linae = JY, then does that mean that each number does not necessarily correspond to one letter but multiple ones? But then that would mess up the whole 7 letter word clue...
I noticed that too. I posted about it on last weeks column

Most of the pairs have something in common
Rainbow Negg Orange Negg (neggs)
Blush Brush (grooming)
Maraqua Altador (worlds)
Bubbles Herbal Drink Hoochi Coochi tablets (cures), etc.
The only pairs that don't match are Peach & Peadackle, Farlax V & Airax, and Roast Gargapple & Dapper Shoyru Shoes
Is this important???
i thought the same way but it lead me to a dead end...

Can anyone find a word scrambled using the letters bgurkln ?? I don't think its possible because theres only one vowel, but sometimes neopets has strange words. I got this by putting
h + ibw
n +ggsl
mqu - tggl
y - urdrnk
wdcc - lckr
cto + flv
gt - emn
in alphabetical order each one (like bhiw) and then picking the first letter of the first, second of the second, seventh of the third etc.

or it may be bguukln im not sure if there should be two rs in the 4th combination which would affect it.
I am not sure about what you did to get this but i used a extremely complicated method and got gqunbgk. Whatever we did, we both got the letters gubk so maybe those letters mean something
so.... anybody actually have the answer yet? :/
1 reply · active 669 weeks ago
Don't know. I've not asked every player who's seen this week's LC. No-one here has posted the answer that I can see.
I tried to think of other ways these were related, if it helps.

Peach & Peadackle: both start with "pea"
Farlax V & Airax: both end in "ax"
and Roast Gargapple & Dapper Shoyru Shoes: both contain "pp" in them.

Not sure if this is even important.

You are an ******* !!! I also have the trophy, avatar and at east 10 prizes from past LC's so you are not special or even smart. You are an ******* and a dirty, hairy one at that !!!
i am smart probably smarter than you in a million YEARS! all i said was that i have the trophy. SORRY for getting it RIGHT! u have NO right to call me that!
Don't forget that when you put your letters together to make the 7 letter word that you put them in real order because the post says 1.,2.,7.,5.,6.,3.,4
I used some weird method and a bit of guessing to get "Chokato".

i really have no idea
i got the letters ibslcfv is that anything?
I tried turning the letters into numbers by putting the corresponding number in the alphabet,
J = 10 E = 5 L = 12 L = 12 Y = 25 = 64
Then I added them all up, and I did Linae
L = 12 I = 9 N = 14 A = 1 E = 5 = 41
Then I subtracted them from each other, and I got 23. But that doesn't work, because 23 would be BC and it says it was JY. I'm completely stumped.
4 replies · active 669 weeks ago
I did this too. Doesn't work. Waste of time too
17randomness17's avatar

17randomness17 · 669 weeks ago

The thing about this is that for it to be JY the numbers would have to be 1025, which would be impossible, unless the math was done differently
Rachael,
Your attempt is the only thing I, or others,
haven't tried.
Congratulations on thinking of a new approach.
Too bad it didn't work. But it may inspire someone
to try something new
Searabbits's avatar

Searabbits · 669 weeks ago

I tried it this way:

J.E x A.E = JY (10.5) x (1.5) = 10.25

And subsequently failed.

All I have to say is one: this is one of the hardests lc ever,
2: the only clue/example we have is that jelly-linae=JY
What is JY capitalized and HOW does jelly-linae.

Anonymous525's avatar

Anonymous525 · 669 weeks ago

I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING...

If Jelly-Linae=JY, doesn't that mean the rest of the puzzle equals to 2 letters? But if all of them are 2 letters, it wouldn't be 7 letters
jelly-linae keep the first letter J thenn change j and l to numbers 10 and 12 now do the operation -2 finally count backwards and u get y because -1 is z and -2 is y thats how u get the first one now do the same exact thing for the rest

well, ****.
for 2=(T- B) + (U-T)
(20-2)+(21-20)
TR + UA
What happens after this?
Quiggle
2 replies · active 669 weeks ago
How'd you get that?
I entered Quiggle last week.
it has to be the letters corresponding to numbers because if you plug the numbers into the mini formula given, you are given the correct number. Ex. c + e = h
c is 3, e is 5 and h is 8. 3+5 = 8
