  1. this was sooooooo easy

  2. whats the answer? what the heck???

    ReplyDelete
  3. 2+4*5=30. Used Calculator.

    So would it be the letter B? O.o;
If that's the case it's about 1 (or two, if you count the center where the "bumps" are connected) straight line(s).

    ReplyDelete
  4. wait... i dont really get the question! lol! is it... 3?

    ReplyDelete
  5. but.... it should be... 22, right?

    4*5 THEN add 2?

and the answer would be... 22, twentY two

    Y = 25th letter in the alphabet,

    with 3 straight lines.

    3 being the answer?

    ReplyDelete
  6. syds:
I think it's 3 that we're translating, but the letter part is what throws me off.

I guess we're going 6 letters after "B", if I'm understanding it correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  7. if you were to write the word in LOWER CASE...it'd be less than 3. That's a hint.

    ReplyDelete
  8. LOL. im so confused by their wording. i thought we were going for the 6th letter in the answer to the math problem. THEN the position of it in the alphabet. and THEN the straight lines in that number....

    man. am i over-complicating things?!

    ReplyDelete
  9. syds:
    No, it's 2 plus 4, then TIMES 5.
The answer in the Calculator is 30.
And the 3, I think, is the "letter spelled by the number", so now we have to move up in the alphabet to reach the destined number...Or it could be referring to "C" because C is the 3rd number in the alphabet.

    ReplyDelete
  10. you're actually scaring me syds...lol, I don't know if they want lower case or upper case! but when you write the words, it'd be considered proper to write in lower case.....

    ReplyDelete

Wait, are you saying it's 0?

I can't translate numbers to letters, I'll be honest with that. I can semi-understand chatspeak, but that's a whole new story there.

    ReplyDelete
  12. You all need to remember ORDER OF OPERATIONS

    PEMDAS

    so its 5*4 = 20
    plus 2 = 22

    Y is the 6th letter

    3 Straight lines

    ReplyDelete
  13. LOL! im sorries. i put it in upper case ONLY to emphasize which letter im talking about.

and now im uber confused. *sigh*

we find out who's right at the end of the competition, right? (been a while since ive worked on a LC)

Oh, well I failed math class, and was lucky enough to be switched from TAKS math to a way easier class. So in other words, I FAILED epically in math, and I still do.

    I hate math. Nuff said.
Heck, I don't even remember PEMDAS...

    ReplyDelete
  15. xD EXACTLY! thats why im saying the answer is 22 not 30... order of operations!

    ReplyDelete
  16. 2+4 = 6 6x5 = 30

6th letter of thirty is y

    3 straight lines

    done !

    ReplyDelete
  17. and when i said
    "Y = 25th letter in the alphabet,

    with 3 straight lines.

    3 being the answer? "

i was referring to the number of straight lines found in "25", not Y.

    ReplyDelete
  18. shouldn't it be 2 because y = 2. or Y = 3?

    ReplyDelete
  19. duh I think they mean the thirtieth number in the alphabet - don't overthink it ya bozo's - it's 3 !!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Number of straight lines on my cock - 12 inches !!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. ... there arent 30 letters in the alphabet.. x3 only 26?

    ReplyDelete
  22. It shouldn't really matter whether the answer is 22 or 30, since the 6th letter of both is y.

...Even though the answer is 22.

    ReplyDelete
  23. its says to write the answer in keywords. what does it mean by that? how would you write it if the answer is 3?

    ReplyDelete
  24. so you just write it as a number like this: 3 ? Or like a word like this: three ?

    ReplyDelete
  25. syds said...
    and when i said
    "Y = 25th letter in the alphabet,

    with 3 straight lines.

    3 being the answer? "

i was referring to the number of straight lines found in "25", not Y.

^^^^ He's got it... the number of the position the letter is in people, not the actual letter

    ReplyDelete
  26. so are you saying you write it like this: three ?

    ReplyDelete
  27. 2+4*5 = twenty two (BODMAS - multiplication before addition)

    6th letter is Y

Y is the 25th letter of the alphabet

    25 has two straight lines

    Answer is 2.

    ReplyDelete
  28. ... 5 has two straight lines and 2 has one. so ... it should be 3 altogether.

i wrote it as "3" not "three"... xD didnt even think of that.

:/ idk if you were referring to me, but im not a 'he'. lols.

    ReplyDelete
  29. the answer is 2 or 3. Which one is for sure? anyways, when you are typing the answer on neopets do you write it in word form or just the plain old number?

    ReplyDelete
  30. 25 has three straight lines?

    2 --> has 1
    5 --> has 2

    1+2 = 3

    ReplyDelete
  31. 2+4*5=30 dumbass thirty ends with a y y is the 25 so its 3

    ReplyDelete
  32. When you are typing the answer on neopets do you type it like this "3" or "three"?

    ReplyDelete
  33. When you are typing the answer on neopets do you type it like this "3" or "three"?

    ReplyDelete
  34. You have to put down the number, not spell it out.

    Anonymous @ 18:00

You need to figure ORDER OF OPERATIONS! Multiplication comes BEFORE addition! So, 2+4*5=22!

    ReplyDelete
  35. lols. :3 even though we got to 3 through different means, im glad we're all set on 3. xD

im pretty sure you just type the number when you answer too. dont spell it out.

and DONT call anyone a dumbass when you can't even figure out order of operations.

    ReplyDelete
  36. the answer is 22.

    ReplyDelete
  37. MATH lesson for free....

Math should always be done in the following order: Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction.
    It's called "BEDMAS"

    Therefore 2+4*5=?

You Multiply first 4*5=20 then add 2
    --->22

    twenty two

6th letter is y, it's the 25th letter in the alphabet therefore there are three straight lines in the number!

    My answer= 3

    ReplyDelete
  38. No matter which order of operations you used (getting either an answer of twenty-two or an answer of thirty), the sixth letter is the same.

    ReplyDelete
  39. IT IS 3.
2+4*5, REMEMBER THE ORDER OF OPERATIONS.
SO, 4*5 IS 20 ADD 2. IF YOU GET 30 OR 22 THE SIXTH LETTER IS STILL THE SAME SO YOU WOULD STILL BE CORRECT.

    ReplyDelete
  40. which lines???

    ReplyDelete
  41. 22 or 30, the 6th letter is y...
the position of y is 25
    and 25 has 3 straight lines :)
unless its those digit numbers.... then it'd be 10....
    but that's unlikely! :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. you guys that are saying 30 is the answer to 2+4*5..... plz go die in a hole... i learned order of operations in third grade.... and uppercase Y, lowercase y, does not matter at all either.... its the amount of lines in the number 25 not the letter y... most of the people here are complete idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  43. okay thanks@ 02:56

    ReplyDelete
  44. 4*5= 20 + 2= 22. Twenty-two: sixth letter is "y." Y is letter 25, which has three straight lines, one in the 2, and two in the 5.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I kinda wish they'd made it so that you needed to know math to do this. All the 30iers woulda gotten it wrong in that case :P

    ReplyDelete
  46. omg. FINALLYYY people are getting what i'm talking about! we're NOT counting the lines in Y, so upper case or lower case wouldn't matter.

it's the 'position in the alphabet' of Y, so it's letter #25.

you count the straight lines in 25, huns. which would be 3.

    ReplyDelete
  47. it is 2... y=2 because in the number that you are spelling Twenty<--- lower case y=2 or if you think the answer is Thirty<--- lower case y=2!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's W the 22nd number in the alphabet. Four

    ReplyDelete
  49. 4 x 5 = 20
    20 + 2 = 22

    t w e n t y t w o
    6th letter= y

Y's position in the alphabet is #25
    25 has two straight lines,
    Answer = 2

Unless you consider five as having two straight lines, then the answer would be three.

    ReplyDelete
  50. 2+4*5 = 22
    4*5 = 20 (point before line) + 2

straigt lines in this number are 2...

How many straight lines are there

in the number of the position in the alphabet

    that is the sixth letter

of the number spelled out by the answer to the following maths problem: 2+4*5?

    twentytwo = 6th one is Y

Y had 3 straigt lines in that letter =)

    So the answer is 3....

    ReplyDelete
  51. you guys are forgetting order of operations in math. ALWAYS do multiplication first. so it would be 4*5 AND THEN add 2 = 22.
    6th letter of 22 is y.
y is the 25th letter in the alphabet.
3 straight lines (considering the 't' is curved at the bottom)

    ReplyDelete
  52. 6 letter in alphabet = F = has 3 straigt lines

    twentY two = Y = has 3 straigt lines...

    so I wrote 3 :D

    ReplyDelete
  53. OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW YOU PEOPLE RIP APART SUCH A SIMPLE QUESTION...THE ANSWER IS THE NUMBER 3 - PLAIN AND SIMPLE TOOLS !!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. is the y upper or lower case because lowercase y is has 2 lines

    ReplyDelete
  55. Even if you don't do the order of operations you'll still get Y.

    ReplyDelete
  56. SO PISSED. it says STRAIGHT lines... so it's 1.... :/ I answered 3 but after I realized it's probably 1.

    ReplyDelete
  57. You people are a bunch of rip roaring assholes - it's 3...now stop the fucking madness and move on with your pathetic little lives !!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. It can be done 3 different ways, all resulting in the same answer
    2+4*5=30 6th letter is Y-3 straight lines
    4*5+2=20 6th letter is Y-3 straight lines
or the position of the Y 25th letter in the alphabet.3 straight lines in 25.
    SO THE ANSWER IS 3!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Order of Operations!!. obviously.

    ReplyDelete
  60. It's 1 straight lines not lines going diagonally :D

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think it's either 0,or 2. because You do Pemdas. Multiply first then add. so its twenty-two.
six letter to the right and you end up with a lowercase y. That y doesn't have any sraight lines so its 0 or 2... I think....

    ReplyDelete
  62. its a 3 noobs. click my link to see

    ReplyDelete
  63. 2+4*5= 22 and 22= twenty-two and the sixth letter of twenty-two is y and there are 2 straight lines in the letter y. Get it?

    ReplyDelete
  64. 2+(4*5)= twenty two.
    T W E N T (Y)
How many straight lines are there in the (NUMBER OF POSTITION)in the alphabet that is the sixth letter.

    Postion is 25.
1 straight line in 2 and 2 in the five.
    3.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Did most of you take 4th grade math? If you haven't then you aren't old enough to be on the computer(much less Neopets)

There's a magical element in mathematics called the ORDER OF OPERATIONS, it breaks down to this:
Parentheses, Exponents, Multiply, or divide(depending which is on the left side), then you add or subtract.

Therefore 30 is SEVERELY incorrect, your calculator sometimes can't factor in the Order of Operations.

    ReplyDelete
  66. anonymous, yes you do pemdas, but it is not the amount of straight lines in 'y'. It is in the number (position) of the alphabet that 'y' is in.
*count, count, count* which is 25. not 'y'.

    ReplyDelete
  67. It took me like 5 seconds to do this conundrum by myself. Congrats to me (although it's not a great feat)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Why are people using calculators? it is 2+4*5!!!! You do not need a calculator!!! This is third grade stuff, people. If it even IS third grade.Anyway, if you used a calculator and got thirty... you are wrong. think of the order of operations. wow! it is twenty two, not thirty!! *clap, clap, clap*

    ReplyDelete
  69. Guys, even if it's twenty-two, it says the NUMBER of the POSITION of the 6th letter of "twenty-two" in the alphabet. The 6th letter is y - that much is obvious. Y is the 25th letter in the alphabet...how many straight lines in 25? You figure out the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I got 10 as my answer.
    2+4*5=22
    Spelled out is twenty-two
6th letter in that is Y
Y is the 25th letter of the alphabet
10 straight lines in 25 when typed on a calculator.

    ReplyDelete
  71. The answer is 3, wetards

    ReplyDelete
  72. How are there 3 lines in 25? The answer is 10.

    ReplyDelete
  73. the bottom line in 2
    the top in 5
    the middle in 5

    lawl

    ReplyDelete
  74. Wuts the answer?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  76. So y is the 25th letter of the alphabet.
What about for those of us that write the number two with NO straight lines? (There are TWO ways to write a 2!) That means that the answer for us would be TWO - as there are two straight lines in a 5.

So the answer could be 2 OR 3.
