Professor Clodbottle, inventor and master of all things Habitarium, was running an experiment to see just how many P3s he could fit into his latest model. (The Cogbottle Ninety™, if you're curious. Not yet ready for release, but he's making progress!)
The professor, looking dapper.
On the first day, the professor started with a Pinchit, a Larnikin, and a Mootix. The next day, there were three Pinchits, two Larnikins, and still one very lonely Mootix. He was off to a good start, though, or so he thought.
The following day, the professor noticed he'd only gained one Mootix. Not one to be dismayed, he set some nesters to work and the fourth day saw an increase of four Pinchits! Four!
Another lull came the next day, when only one Larnikin had been added, but things got better the day after that when he found three more Mootixes, another Larnikin, and one more Pinchit.
How many Petpetpets did the professor have in his new Habitarium on the fifteenth day?

Did anyone get 52? I was thinking 52 but I could be completely off...
ReplyDeleteI got 86. How did you get 52?
ReplyDeleteFull pattern I got was +3, +1, +4, +1, +5, +1, +6, +1.... etc until day 15. What did you do for 86?
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I was wondering is if they die off? I submitted that they didn't but I'm not sure that is right.
ReplyDeleteI did adding pattern plus extra for more nesters. then deaths after 8 days, but i havent submitted. I think its wrong
ReplyDeleteThey never specified about them dying off. I did the same as ^^.
ReplyDeleteSame as what? You got 52?
DeleteYeah, 52.
DeleteAwesome. Good luck :P
DeleteWell I got 79 with none dying off so it looks like we all disagree a lot.
ReplyDeleteevery single pet3 has a particular growth patron, use a table and repeat each p3 growth patron you will get 40p3 in the end
ReplyDeleteThoughts?
I got 52 as well, considering they don't die on my :3
ReplyDeleteYou are making this too complicated for the pattern. Think cookieas and cake. But don't forgat that the first day just starts with the original 3 and is not part of the pattern.
ReplyDeleteIt's pi day so the pattern I got was plus each digit of pi for the following 9 days after the information already given.
ReplyDeleteSo 71.
Good luck!
You are completelly right on ur theory.... the numbers follow PI.
Delete+3 +1 +4 +1 +5... (3,1415..)
so next is +9 +2 +6... till day 15.
And at the end we get 71 :D
agree
Deletewhy am i getting 55 ;_;
DeleteBut you guys need to follow the pattern, not add the numbers in the rule. If you actually follow the rule, the answer will give you 52.
Deletenot everywhere has pi day.....if that was the answer, i think most people would get angry thinking that they made up some fake day! so i think you're supposed to follow the pattern.
Deletei got 55 too by the increase
Deletehow 71?? can u show a detailed explanation?
DeleteWeird, I have Pi Day too! It totally makes sense the answer is 71.
ReplyDeleteShoot I missed a 1 when I wrote it down :(
ReplyDeleteI got 52.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think about the connection to Pi when I was figuring it out.
Oh well.
Guys it's tree fiddy
ReplyDeleteYeah, I got 52 as well. I used that same method.
ReplyDeleteI used pi and got 43, since we have to take in account that the P3's die. What do you think?
ReplyDelete52 or 71??
ReplyDelete59!
ReplyDeletePi day isn't some national holiday or anything lol...it is the 3rd month and 14th day which Neopets supports. The chances for a coincidence for the differences in numbers to be 3 1 4 1 5 are incredibly slim, more so on pi day, so I am fairly certain 71 is the correct answer.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure that the problem wanted us to calculated deaths, because p3s die at different rates and no information was given on that account.
But if that is not the case, how did you calculate the deaths?
I think you have to include the fact that P3s in the habitarium only have a life span of one week. Remember the hidden tower one where you had to calculate how much you would spend after buying the most expensive and least expensive? It was a trick question because you can only buy one item from the hidden tower per day. So in that sense, all Neopets rules apply.
ReplyDeleteTNT seem to have a liking for quirks and such, so I think that they would definitely incorporate Pi day in their puzzle.
3+3+1+4+1+5+9 [7 days]
+(2-3)+(6-3)+(5-1)+(3-4)+(5-1)+(8-5)+(9-9) [14 days]
+(7-2) [15th day]
=43
P3s die in a week, I'm nearly positive we should take their deaths into account. And I also would agree that pi is the pattern (: So 43 for me as well
ReplyDeleteOK, perhaps it is really just a trick question, in which case:
ReplyDelete
How many Petpetpets did the professor have in his new Habitarium on the fifteenth day?
All of them! .....
Where the heck else would he keeps those petpetpets?
The math questions on the LC usually aren't oversimplified like that though (: They do like to throw tricks in to them though.
DeleteYou are a fucking retard - all of them my ass !!!
Delete71 plain and simple ya fucking pi cunt
it's 71 for sure, don't overthink it.
ReplyDeleteshow ur calculations
DeleteThere's pie ??? Yummy
DeleteWe don't have to show you dick - figure it out for yourself ya fucking lazy chuff !!!
Deletethe answer is 59 on the 15th day
ReplyDeleteWhere is everyone getting 3+1+5+1+4 from not sure if I read it wrong but I'm pretty sure it goes 3+5+1+4...
ReplyDeletewhat is the maximum amount of petpetpets in your habitarium??
ReplyDelete46
Deleteit should be 10. its a new habitarium.
ReplyDeleteI got 49.. --> 3 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 5 + 1 + 6 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 8 + 1 + 9 + 1 = 49, not sure how everyone's getting up to the 80's? Just follow the pattern, do it for yourself. Don't believe anyone until you try the patern yourelf, they could be lying just to get a higher score!! :)
ReplyDeletei got 52. start with 3, then add 3 on the second day then 1 then 4 then 1 then 5 then 1 then 6 then 1 then 7 then 1 then 8 then 1 then 9 then 1. adds up to 52.
ReplyDeleteI said 52.
ReplyDeleteI got 40
ReplyDeletecorrect answer 71.
ReplyDeleteI was one of the first 250 people who got it right, in addition to that, I got a bronze trophy, the avatar, the prize that was awarded for that question and over 4000 Neopoints. The correct answer was 52.
ReplyDeleteIt is not 52. I put in 71 and I got silver and TNT said it was right.
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected. Oh, I did get bronze. So, well done on getting silver.
