Lenny Conundrum - Round #450

The Bank Manager doesn't just take care of your Neopoints; he has his own, too. He doesn't work for free. Geesh.

After winning 20,000 NP on the Wheel of Excitement one day, he decided to go on a little shopping spree.

First, he visited Mystery Island, where he spent 15% of his winnings on delicious tropical food. After that, he takes a chance on the Tombola and wins, which adds 15% of his NP to his total. Then he stops at the trading post strikes a deal for some Jelly Sponge Cake at 8% of his NP.

And, being the smart bank manager that he is, he finally puts his Neopoints into a new bank account so he can save up and earn some interest.

After 10 days of collecting interest every day, at the maximum account level he can achieve each day, how many Neopoints will the bank manager have? Remember, bank interest is rounded up!

Enter just the number with proper number formatting. (So if you think the answer is one thousand one hundred and eleven Neopoints, enter 1,111.)

    3. @Homo Hater

      homos are perfectly fine.
just because you believe in something that you think is wrong, doesn't mean that they don't have their own beliefs too. IDK why this is still an issue because this is a government for the people ad not all people are straight. homo shouldn't be used to call names.

    1. I got 18,026 at 4np interest/a day. and it didn't go up over those 10 days.

    2. I got 18,026 too. ^^ Oh well, my friends will have to get the trophy next week *lol*

      Delete
    3. sorry but your wrong, you dont get interest on the first day as you've deposited money into a new account, therefore its only

      18,022

      Delete
    4. "After 10 days of collecting interest every day" so he collected interest 10 times.

      Delete
    5. but it says he collected interest for 10 days. it doesn't meant that he kept it in there for ten days. it says he collected 10 days WORTH of interest..

      Delete
    6. No, actually, it specifically says "10 days of collecting interest" so it's the full 40 neopoints.

      Delete
    7. Guess we'll see whose right in a week!

      Delete
    8. actually it is 18,026 because the problem say after 10 days OF COLLECTING INTEREST every day.

      Delete
    9. Yes. It will be people who collected interest for 10 days as that is what it says in the problem :P

      Delete
    10. Yo. Guys. Quick hint. 3.45 doesn't round up to 4.

      Delete
    11. the bank always rounds up, even if the decimal is under 5 -.-

      Delete
  7. 18,026, correct?

  11. what is the final awnser?

    ReplyDelete
  12. answer is 18,028

after you do the subtract 15% then add then subtract again
every day of interest is 6 neopoints.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. it's 4.
      you subtract 15% of 20,000 , which equals 17000
then add 15% of 17000, which equals 19550
then subtract 8% of 19550, which equals 17986
plus 10 days of interest (at 4 nps all the way through)=18,026

      Delete
  13. I put 18,026 =X

    ReplyDelete
  14. 20,000-15%(3,000)=17,000
    17,000+15%(2,550)=19,550
    19,550-8%(1,564)-17,986

Then put into the bank at 7% interest (Super Gold Plus), interest is 4np for each day (it never changes)

    10 days of collecting interest=40np

    17,986+40=18,026 neopoints.

    ReplyDelete
  15. You guys need to realize, you've got it all wrong. 15% of 20k is 3,000 neopoints. then 15% of 17000 (his new total nps) etc etc. then interest on a Junior Super Plus account at the end is only 7% a year. making it 30 nps total at the end.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why junior super plus?? he has over 10k, he can put it in a super gold plus.

      Delete
    2. yup this is actually correct SHHHHH

      Delete
    3. loool i got it all wrong hahah!
it says "at the maximum account level he can achieve each day" and i understood the maximum account level he can have, assuming he already has money in the bank.. so i assumed he got 12% of interest a day :( i blew it haha

      Delete
  16. Correct Interest is rounded up but still at 4 per day

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm just checking the time stamp to see how close I am

    ReplyDelete
  18. I also got 18,026!! and I am a math major, so it will be embarrassing if I'm wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I got 18,206. Pretty sure this is right since I just studied this last year.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's 18,440 NP.

    ReplyDelete
  21. thank all of ya' who explained how and gave answer

    ReplyDelete
  22. why can't he have the maximum 12.5% interest account? These are simply winnings, it doesn't represent everything he has. It says that he has his own money prior to the winnings, and thus already had an account. I believe the answer is 18,056; same math as above but 7np per day.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's an interesting point. The conundrum says "he finally puts his Neopoints into a new bank account[,]" so I assumed the account started with a balance of 0 and contained no deposits other than what is mentioned in the conundrum. Again, I like the outside-the-box thinking and I could be wrong here, but I went with 18,026.

      Delete
    2. it says 'new' bank account so i assumed it didn't have anything else from before.

      Delete
    3. i got 18,022

      Delete
  23. whats the final answer?

    ReplyDelete
  24. 18,026 is the right answer.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Debating on whether it's 18,022 because you don't collect interest on the first day; or if it's 18,026 because it's a full interest collection. I'm torn on this one. :P

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. "After 10 days of collecting interest every day" so i'm assuming it's 10 days of collecting interest.

  26. AHHHH!!!!!!! I just submitted 18,031 because I worked it all out and then physically did the problem in my own bank account. Only problem was I forgot to switch my account to super gold saver thing and it was on Diamond deposit!!!!!! The interest was 5np!!!!!!! Answer is definately 18,026 for those who are asking by the way :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I got 18,026 too. I'm now sure it's right.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I used a calculator and SunnyNeo's bank interest calculator. I'm right. It's 18,440 NP.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I used a calculator and SunnyNeo's bank interest calculator also, but I know for sure that its 18,026np.

  29. 18026- its the most common and its also what i got.

lol, i never win the 20k on the wheel of excitement.. usually less than 500 np.....

    ReplyDelete
  30. I got 18026. Not hard at all :/

    ReplyDelete
  31. same with 18026, wonder how many got it though, seems like it'll be a small cash prize...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well 4mil divided by 1432 (the prize) is 2793 with a decimal, so about 2800 people. Sadly, that means under 10% of the people who won got the trophy.

      Delete
  32. Probably not going to be a lot; I got the 18026 on my first try, so... Sigh. Looks like I'm not the first 250 either.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I didn't put the comma in 18026 so I won't get it right. How stupid, usually they want you to leave the comma out.

    ReplyDelete
  34. aww i thought it was 5 np/day. Another failure..

    ReplyDelete
  35. This is flawed, the interest shouldn't be a constant 4NP. Sorry boys and girls.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. too bad 4 u, it is 18026

      i won 1432 np =P

  37. Is there any way to actually figure this out or is it just guesstimating?

    ReplyDelete
  38. 2794 got it correct. (taken from news)
How do we figure out how many got disqualified for not following directions?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm guessing 5, I'm taking instructions to round literally.

    ReplyDelete
  40. How the hell should we know the answer to that new conundrum? We ain't workers at Neopets...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm thinking its 0, if they got the answer correct they wouldnt have been disqualified, im taking it to mean that incorrect punctuation means an incorrect answer, even if the number was right.

    ReplyDelete
  42. oh i put 245 cuz....

How many people got the answer TO (2) last week's LC correct, but were disqualified FOR (4) not following directions? Round to the nearest FIVE.(5)

=245.....i doubt ill get it right.....

    1. omg thats amazing.i might write that
