Lenny Conundrum - Round #451

Charles the Ogrin was having a quiet time with his friends Milly the Bruce, Penelope the Grarrl, and Theodore the Mynci. They were waiting for two more friends, Esmerelda the Wocky and Gerald the Lenny. The table was set and the tea was about to be poured. Suddenly, Charles and his guests heard a commotion outside and they all went to look. There were half a dozen young Neopians tearing about Charles' lawn!

"My prize geraniums," shouted Charles. He was enraged by the sight of his multi-hued beauties being crushed under the clumsy feet of those disrespectful rascals.

Charles knew it could be hours before the DoN would arrive to help him, so he formulated a plan. After Charles huddled together with his guests, they quietly deliberated on what could be done to remove the six youngsters from Charles' property. After a thorough discussion, they put their plan into action. Each grabbed a cane, stick, spoon, or any other implement that would be easy to shake in disapproval, and made their way outside.

Assuming that Charles' two remaining guests had arrived by then: How many Elderly Ogrins would it take to get those pesky Neopets off of Charles' lawn?

Enter the number in word form with no spacing or punctuation.

  1. im gonna go with either one or zero cuz there is only one ogrin period but it doesnt say what kind of ogrin he is...

  2. I think it's one ~ "six youngsters from Charles' property"
so therefore, it seems that Charles is 'older' than these pesky neopets.

  3. shit, i put it in number form and not word form

    2. Shoot. Me too. You'd think I would have learned to read the directions better after messing up the other one.

  4. The answer is six !

  5. How is the answer six?

    ReplyDelete
  6. It asks how many elderly ogrins it takes to get them off the lawn-- there are six guests (including Charles) and six youngsters, but Charles is the only Ogrin (the others are a bruce, wocky, grarrl, mynci, and lenny).

    I'm going with one.

  7. Easy, 2. I remember TNT said an elderly neopets could get 3 kids off of a lawn. So 2x3=6

    1. Where does it say that?

    2. He's playin ya homie !!!

    3. well actually agree with you since it is stated How many Elderly Ogrins would it take to get those pesky Neopets off of Charles' lawn? it doesn,t say How many Elderly Ogrins were there.

      Delete
  8. I think 3 kids off the lawn is not stated in the given problem

    ReplyDelete
  9. There is only ONE ogrin, and that's charles?

    1. you are right and so i guess we will go for one, right?

      Delete
  10. Yeah, I went with "one" - there's only one Ogrin in that group.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I just went with one.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I flipping put 1 instead of One

    ReplyDelete
  13. wouldn't it be six? It asks "how many WOULD it take" if, hypothetically, it was only elderly ogrins getting them off of the lawns. It established in the problem that one ogrin can take out one pest.

    1. That's what I'm thinking too, but 'Assuming that Charles' two remaining guests had arrived by then' predecessing the question really throws me off.

  14. One makes the most sense at the moment, I guess. And I scoured various corners of the internet for evidence that 'one elderly neopet can get three kids off their lawn' and found nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  15. could it be six becuz since the question asks for how many elderly ogrins in would take and since theres six friends and six youngsters one elderly ogrin could take out one youngster so six could take out six? i dont know tho

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's one if the question is 'How many Elderly Ogrins who are having quiet time with five friends would it take to get those Neopets off the lawn?'

It's six if the question is referring to the fact that Charlie can only handle one youngster and needs a friend per youngster to shoo them away.

  17. "How many elderly Ogrins would it take to get those pesky neopets off Charles'lawn?"

    Zero

The problem establishes the presence of a Mynci, Grarrl, Bruce, etc. So, even though the problem never even specifies that Charles is elderly in the first place, he isn't necessary for the task of removing the children from the lawn in the first place.

  18. "each grabbed a CANE..." Who uses CANES?? OLD PEOPLE! Only known elderly colored neopet right now: ORGIN. ORGIN IN THIS STORY: 1.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Not only old people use canes...I recently had knee surgery - am 25 - and need a cane to help me recover...so blow me !!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. wow..really? No need to reply like that You sure you're 25? That post makes you seem like you're 5.

      Delete
    2. A 5 year old who wants a blow job ? Are you a pedophile or something ??? Ya sick peeve !!!

      Delete
    3. Only old people use canes, how ignorant are you?

Anyone who uses a screen name like hates pedo's probably is one, learn to read idiot.

      Delete
    4. This is the dumbest conversation I have ever seen, if idiot A is really 25 then you are the most petty and immature 25 year old in history, HP the word is perv you moron, and idiot number three, yes old people aren't the only people to use canes, but lets faces the only young people using canes are those with leg injuries, and those who dress like 1970's pimps. Seriously stupid to call this guy out you mentally deficient pack of losers.

      Delete
    5. This conversation is fucking hilarious.

      Delete
  20. You're missing the point. What kind of guy cares about his garden anyways? It is heavily implied the Charles is old.

    ReplyDelete
  21. "It is heavily implied the Charles is old."

Obviously. That's kind of the point.

LC is full of riddles. It is 'heavily implied' that he is old, but it is never *stated*.

On the contrary, one should be suspicious at the amount of overkill: the name Charles is old-fashioned, the used of the word 'rascals' is outdated, the stereotype of pointlessly waving objects to chase the children off is associated with the elderly, etc.

The trick of the problem is the power of suggestion.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The answer zero seems too easy to be right

    ReplyDelete
  23. sometimes the obvious isn't the right answer either. Man this is a weird LC.

    ReplyDelete
  24. But sometimes the obvious could be the right answer.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think answer is two. Because there is only two types of ogrins. Male and female. So answer is two.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Since Charles formulated the plan on his own I put one.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The story portion of the question ends with "...and they made their way outside," which tells us that the plan that Charles formulated wasn't carried out yet and therefore, we don't know if it successful or not. The question also poses a hypothetical ideal because it says how many elderly ogrins WOULD it take. "Elderly" is also capitalized in the question suggesting a pronoun which is also very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think it is zero because it does not state if he himself is elderly. What if he himself is a very young ogrin but was still successful at getting the rascals off of his lawn? O.o

    ReplyDelete
  29. I went with one, because this LC is too dumb to waste that much time on. It comes down to a guess anyway as to what they mean when they ask this?

    ReplyDelete
  30. i just answered one,is that true?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Syafizzaq r u a vocaloid fan? i just noticed ur hatsune miku profile pic super cute :3 btw ^

    ReplyDelete
  32. The paintbrush is called "Get of my lawn Paint Brush" he wants the kids off his lawn.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @sophirockz ...i am not just ordinary hatsune miku fan,i also make song but it normally sound shitty

    ReplyDelete
  34. wouldnt it be 3 even tho i went with 1 it could be three because charles did say half a dozen youngsters which is 3 and it says 6 youngetsers and he said it would take hours before the dons came which would probrably be 2 more ogrins to help him and charles had only 3 guest at his party and charles dosent count becus he lived there and owns it it couldnt be two becus dons more than 1 would be 2 more ogrins + charles would make 3 elderly ogrins so it could be 1,3 cnat be 2 at all and if its half a dozen youngs than each orgrin would take 1 or 2 but i think it could be 1 or 3 im sorry if this is long so please dont blame me P.S.IF YOUR 25 YEARS OLD WITH A CANE THEN WTH ARE U DOING ON NEOPETS A KIDS SITE

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Looking out for pedophiles like you !!!

      Delete
    2. I don't have a cane but I am 66 years old and Neopets is NOT a kids site we just TOLERATE kids and we have learnt manners with age plus we Elders have forgotten more than what you youngsters have ever learnt!!

      Delete
  35. 1 probably. Charles is the only elderly ogrin

    ReplyDelete
  36. Just got the NM saying I won. I guessed: "1". The answer was 1!!
