Lenny Conundrum - Round #432

As seen above, you can arrange the digits 1-9 in a 3-by-3 grid so that the number formed in the first row can be multplied by 2 to form the number in the second row and by 3 to form the third row.

It can be done a few different ways using a few different number combinations, but what is the one solution with a 5 placed in the centre square? Enter just the numbers found in each row in order, with a space between each. For example, the answer for the first grid shown above would be 219 438 657.

  3. I dont get it, I understand how the first column is 246 and how the answers first column is 369 but how do the others fit it? 1 x 2 is not 3 so how is the middle block 3? and 1 x 3 is definitely not 5 so how does that fit? Maybe I am looking at this wrong.

  5. To answer the above question, it is the total number of the row.

    219 * 2 = 438
    219 * 3 = 657

It is not the individual numbers. You just have to use numbers 1-9 in a way that yields 2nd row = twice the value and the 3rd row = thrice the value

  6. 246 times 2 = 369
    246 times 3 = 651

So find a number that follows this:

    Say the first row's number is: A B C

ABC times 2 should equal D 5 E < because 5 is in the center.

    ABC times 3 should also equal F G H .

    ABC
    D5E
    FGH

NOW FIND ABCDEFG by filling in numbers.
    Hint. D=6.
    Goodluck from there :)

Also, for those who didn't realize, each letter equals a number 1-9. no repeats.

  8. Thanks! I cant believe I didnt catch that. I was busy multiplying each number. Blame it on excessive Sudoku I guess! Too focused on each number than the puzzle as a whole.

  12. Actually you're still a douche and TNT doesn't do much to screw with anyones minds. They even gave us an answer to the first grid. How the fuck does 981 multiply into 654? Fucking scrub.

  13. Do we really need all this profanity?

I once heard that people whom swear excessively, are less intelligent because they cannot think of the proper words to use in lieu of profanity.

    Just sayin'

  14. @fancy english anon;
lets start by saying this is my first comment on this page, i'm not any of the other anons.

i believe that you shouldn't judge a person's intelligence just by the usage of their words. for example, i could replace "good job" to a phrase synonymous such as "commendable effort", but i won't, because i feel that it isn't necessary.

but that's just me, my beliefs and my choice of words. the usage of simple words may be detrimental to my ability to craft brilliant stories without the use of a thesaurus, but in no ways will it take away from my knowledge. i do not forget the words, i just grow less accustomed to using them.

what i do believe is a sign of poor intelligence, however, is misuse of the words 'their' and 'there'. that just gets to me.

    also, if you didn't already read above, it's 327 654 981 :D

  16. I didn't understand and I posted the wrong answer.

I read it as you add the numbers together then multiply.

    147 258 369 is what I got...

    1+4+7=12 1+2=3
    2+5+8=15 1+5=6
    3+6+9=18 1+8=9

At least you can now see my logic... :(
